Advent Calendars

Every year we search for the best holiday advent calendars for you.  This one was just released today and last year sold out very quickly.  If you are like me and like to have gifts on hand, that appeal to a wide variety of people, this one is a great one!  I just ordered mine and I'll show you when it arrives.

In this charming advent you will receive a different jam or honey every day counting down to the holidays.  What a fun family gift!

Click here to order.  Quantity is limited.  Pop over to read the description and reviews.

We have customized wooden crates to put your advent calendars in for gifting.  You can get the advent, wooden crate and a holiday tea towel all for under $65!  This would make an excellent gift for parents, in-laws, co-workers, and teachers.

I also love this gift because it's practical.  Who doesn't need a little extra sweetness and food during these times.

My Guide to Staying Cozy and Well

Staying healthy and happy is especially important during these unsettling times.

Here are a few of my tips and my favorite products.

First, let's make our homes a place we want to be.  I like having cozy blankets in almost every room and stacks and stacks of books.  As the weather turns colder it's convenient to have books ready to read.

Above is one of the softest blankets and it comes in a variety of colors.  This color is fitting for autumn and the pompom detail reminds me of an Anthropologie blanket at 1/3 the cost.  It pairs nicely with our hobnail candle at the shop.  It also makes an excellent gift.  It's currently on sale for $23.99.  Unfortunately I am never sure how long the sale will last so if you're early holiday shopping I would  quickly take advantage of the sale.

Another product that I could not live without is a good foam roller.  If you are new to foam rolling I will include more information in upcoming posts.  I recommend foam rolling not only to the athletes I work with, but anyone experiencing back, hip, knee or leg pain.  Below is the best one I've found.  My son who is an avid cyclist recommended it to me when I first experienced runner's knee from over-running.  Foam rolling has drastically reduced my pain and allowed me to continue to run and dance.

It comes in a variety of colors.  I have the hot pink, but also love the bright green.

Foam rolling is a self-myofascial release (SMR) technique. It can help relieve muscle tightness, soreness, and inflammation, and increase your joint range of motion. Foam rolling can be an effective tool to add to your warm-up or cooldown, before and after exercise.

Read more about the advantages here.

I will be adding to this post during the upcoming week.

Fall Tips and Tricks

Fall is all about layering!  Layering our tables, our cushions, our clothing, etc.

One of my favorite ways to layer up a table is with breadboards.
and this one is my favorite that we sell at the shop.

A fellow blogger taught me this.  She is a darling mom and wonderful cook.

And because it turned cold in Utah over night and brought with it hurricane force winds
it's time to layer up ourselves!

Our leopard scarf is a great transition scarf because it's not a heavy knit.

$20

We have a variety of scarfs at the shop.

Love to have you!  Open tomorrow 12-5.

Chocolate Zucchini Cake

As featured on our Instagram

Ingredients

1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup oil
1 2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 cups shredded zucchini
1/2 bag chocolate chips

Beat margarine, oil, and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla; mix until well blended.
Add flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
Then add buttermilk and zucchini.
Pour batter into 9x13 greased baking pan and sprinkle top with chocolate chips.
Bake for around 40-45 minutes (watch at end).
The zucchini makes this cake VERY moist and dense and it will just melt in your mouth.

Bon Apetit!
